Headman's It Rough remixed by Chicken Lips on the GommaLabel.

"Back to 1986 with that floor killer from the Chicken Lips called on a remix mission by the cool Headman. Apart from their fine reading of old-school Chicago acid sound they manage to find the perfect vocal gimmick in Headman's original track, the already classic "it rough, it rough" which has the same catchy effect as Metro Area's "ho ho, ho ho" on Miura. Headman's original track also sounds like some 1986 music, but he's certainly closer to Mantronix than to Dj Pierre." - Tigersushi

riot in lagos

So, Ryuichi Sakomoto originally released this incredible track Riot in Lagos in 1980 on the B 2 Unit record, I believe. I first heard it on a Mantronix compilation, but this particular version of Riot in Lagos is actually a remake by Tao from the Plaid compilation parts in the post. Nice stuff...but in no way can it touch the original. I'll try and digitize my copy of the record.

first post in the blogosphere. Thought I'd give it a try. This is not my bag, really...but I did find this great (relatively) new label hand on the plow with an mp3 of Beckett and Taylor's tune: work with what you got

nice stuff and a good review from Phillip Sherburne saying, "Gospel refrains, Herbertian gristle-chomping, Chicago house, SND-style 2-bit pipsqueaks, Akufen skip and Timbaland snap — Beckett and Taylor graft them all together and then erase only half the seams, until you can't quite decide which sound belongs to what source. You've heard the idea before, sure — in Isolee, in Geeez and Gosh, in Dabrye, to some extent. They all fuse and abrade. But this braiding seems somehow deeper"
